The Rhaetian Railroad's Bernina Express connects the Swiss city of Chur with the Italian city of Tirano on the rail line listed as a UNESCO world heritage. This tourist train surmounts at the high point of the line (Ospizio Bernina) an altitude of 2,253 meters / 7,391 feet above sea level. This prototypically painted car set that can be used by itself can also be added to the 49660 car set to make up a prototypical train. The set consists of a 2nd class car and a 1st class car. All of the cars are in the new paint scheme for Era V as of 2005. This paint scheme is extensively and prototypically applied to the cars. The doors can be opened and the cars have interior lighting and metal wheels. Both cars are individually packaged. Length over the buffers for each car 68 cm / 26-3/4".
The 39661 car set can be added to the earlier 49660 car set to make up a prototypical train.
